Nanoscience is an emerging technology that is nowadays finding wide applications in various fields. Designing biocatalysts, identification of different bacterial strains, monitoring food quality through various biosensors, food packaging through smart systems, active, intelligent and nanoencapsulation of bioactive food compounds are some examples of these applications in the food industry. In this paper, we update some topics related to the potential of nanotechnology in the food industry. Furthermore, we also discuss some concerns regarding the application of nanotechnology in this popular industry.
