Gender-based violence has been considered as one of the major social public health concerns affecting women from all walks of life across the globe. Moreover, the incidence of this issue is significantly increased in areas facing humanitarian emergencies. To address the issue of violence against women living in displacement camps in Myanmar, the United Nations Population Fund has launched a new initiative to build a network of male volunteers to prevent violence and respond appropriately to support victims. In conclusion, the issue of gender-based violence cannot be eradicated unless men are actively involved. The current strategy of building a network of men and engaging them to counter this menace is a highly effective approach and program managers around the world should take inspiration from this strategy and aim to replicate the same in their own settings for better and more favorable results.
