概要

An Extremely Rare Case of Aggressive Osteoblastoma and Conventional Osteoblastoma Coexisting in the Bilateral Mandible

Masato Yamazaki*, Masayuki Fukuda, Akira Nakata and Hiroshi Takano

Conventional osteoblastoma is a rare benign bone-forming tumor, which accounts for about 1% of all bone tumors. Aggressive osteoblastoma is an uncommon bone-forming neoplasm with the potential for local invasion and recurrence. A 23-year-old Japanese man was admitted to our clinic with the chief complaint of left mandibular swelling and underwent incisional biopsy. A histological diagnosis of aggressive osteoblastoma was made. The patient had a tumor in the right mandible resembling that on the left side. The histological diagnosis of the right mandibular lesion was conventional osteoblastoma. Recent reports have recommended segmental resection and reconstruction for the treatment of aggressive osteoblastoma. Here, we report an extremely rare case of coexisting aggressive osteoblastoma requiring surgical resection and conventional osteoblastoma discovered in the bilateral mandible.
